Metal junk is a documented source of scrap in the community game-file reference: its description says it can be broken down into scrap, and its recycling field lists 2 scrap. The same archive describes a dismantle bench for breaking down gear. A church bench location or quest unlock is not verified here.
This is a file-based recycling and recipe reference, not a tested scavenging route. A recycling field is a configuration value, not a measured yield from every world junk pile. Construction costs do not prove that a station is unlocked in your save.
How to obtain it
For recycling, compare the item and station descriptions with your current dismantle interface. The archive lists Metal Junk with Scrap x2 as its recycling output. It lists Dismantle Bench at 10 wood + 10 iron to build and 5 iron returned on dismantling. These are file values, not evidence of an available church station or a particular unlock quest.
The older official Building Blocks announcement, dated 5 December 2025, describes scrap as more frequent around House Camp and the Solar fields. This is pre-release regional guidance, not a launch-build loot route, respawn timer or guarantee for a specific container.

No. The 9x19mm row uses 2 scrap, while several other calibers use 1. The 7.62x39, 7.62x51 and 7.62x54R rows use quality metal instead. All also need gunpowder.
